About Mrs. Corrigan:
I began teaching at St. Al's eight years ago. The current 8th graders were my first wonderful class of First Graders. I loved teaching here from the very beginning. This year I began team-teaching Second Grade (working together in the planning) with Mrs. Schomberg for the Language Arts (Reading and English) and Math instruction, and teaching the Second Grade Social Studies, Science, and Religion curriculum, as well as the full First Grade curriculum.
My philosophy of teaching is that to do the best job of teaching my children, I need to find out where each child is along their learning path and then help them to take their next steps, and see how far we can go in the time that I have them.
I was raised on a dairy farm in Burlington Township and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I have taught Kindergarten through 3rd grade over the years. I have two children, but no grandchildren yet. My daughter is an actuary in Los Angeles, CA and volunteers for her local Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill pet shelter in her spare time, and spends some of her vacation time working at their Dogtown, a sanctuary in southern Utah, in her spare time. My son and his wife live near Des Moines, IA. He works full time for the National Guard there and his Military Police unit was recently called up, along with most of the National Guard units in Iowa, to deploy to Afghanistan. I am praying for his safety, both physical and mental.
My husband is retired and is disabled by Parkinson's Disease. We have 2 dogs; Gus is a goofy Standard Poodle and Ozzie is a bossy German Shepherd. I enjoy feeding and watching birds in my backyard. Genealogy and family history is my free-time hobby.
